Former Wisconsin Badgers standout suffers major injury
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt was coming into the 2022 NFL season with high expectations. The former Wisconsin Badgers star had made four straight Pro Bowl appearances as a member of the Steelers.
Watt performed significantly well against the Steelers’ Week One opponent, The Cincinnati Bengals. He had one interception and three tackles for loss on the day. Watt had to leave the game with what appeared to be an injury.
Reports came out later Sunday afternoon that Watt had sustained a major injury. Per Mike Giardi of the NFL Network, the Steelers think Watt might have a torn pec.
Per source, Steelers fear torn pec for Watt. He'll undergo further tests tomorrow. A major blow for Pittsburgh. https://t.co/Aea3o1fVeC

It’s unclear now if the injury will be season-ending for the former Wisconsin Badgers linebacker. That would be a crushing blow for the Steelers. Watt is one of the cornerstones of the Steelers’ defense. Watts’ efforts are needed for the team to have a good chance of making the playoffs.
The Steelers would beat the Bengals in overtime 23-20 in overtime Sunday. It was an impressive win for the Steelers over their divisional rival and the reigning AFC Champions without one of their best defenders. The Steelers will play in Week Two next Sunday against the New England Patriots.
