No matter the player it is never good to hear the words “out for the season”. Even for players I despise, I never wish injury upon them. One former Packer who has bounced around the league will not see the field again in 2022. Former Packers WR/RB Ty Montgomery is out for the season.
Former Packers WR/RB Ty Montgomery Is Out For The Season

Montgomery found himself on the Patriots’ roster for the 2022 season. He made it halfway through the first game of the season before suffering a shoulder injury. He was placed on injured reserve soon after that and has not seen any game action since. After his stint with the Packers, Montgomery has bounced around the league trying to find the right fit. Now, a shoulder injury ends his season.
He Had A Small Window Of Greatness With Green Bay
There was a time when the Packers were having trouble finding a consistent running back. Ty Montgomery shifted into the RB role perfectly and was pretty much version 1.0 of Deebo Samuel. He became very productive out of the backfield. He also played on special teams which was the catalyst for his demise with the Packers. In a game in Los Angeles against the Rams, the Packers were set to give Aaron Rodgers the ball back for a game-winning drive. Instead of taking a knee on the kickoff, which was the plan, he took the ball out to try and make a play. He ended up fumbling the ball and the Rams took over. That week, he was cut from the team. It was a disappointing end to a promising career.
That one mistake was awful at the moment but I always had hoped that Ty Montgomery would find a place in the NFL. Now Ty Montgomery finds himself out for the season. He will have to make a comeback one more time as he rehabs his shoulder injury. Maybe the Packers can find forgiveness and bring him back on a cheap deal next season.

I completely agree with your hope that Ty makes it in the league, and better yet if he ends up back with the Packers. Seemed a knee-jerk move by Gutekunst getting rid of a guy who, by all appearances, was a solid team player with flashes of brilliance.
