The Green Bay Packers have had multiple wide receivers move on from their team over the last few years. Before the 2022 season, Davante Adams was traded, Marquez Valdes-Scantling signed with the Chiefs, and Equanimeous St. Brown signed with the Bears. This off-season the Packers are likely to move on from Allen Lazard as his asking price will likely be too high for Green Bay. However, there is one more receiver who spent time with the Packers in 2023 and has already signed a new contract. Rookie Wide Receiver Chris Blair has signed with the D.C. Defenders of the XFL.
Packers Rookie Wide Receiver Chris Blair Signs With The XFL
Chris Blair, who spent time on the Packers as a rookie during the 2022 season, has signed with the D.C. Defenders of the XFL. Blair who is listed as 6’2 and 198 pounds, was a rookie out of Alcorn State University. He spent two years at Hinds Community College (Raymond, Miss.) before playing two years at ASU (2018-19). In 2019, Blair ranked No. 6 in the nation in yards per reception (21.2) as he led the team with 931 yards and hauled in seven touchdowns. He registered five 100-yard receiving games, including 144 yards against Mississippi Valley State, 136 against Jackson State, 108 against Savannah State, and 108 against Southern.
While he didn’t have an opportunity to crack the Packers’ 53-man roster, he will certainly get his shot with the D.C. Defenders. The 2023 DC Defenders season will be the second season for the franchise as a professional American football franchise. The Defenders will play their home games at Audi Field and will be led by head coach Reggie Barlow. Their season will begin on Sunday, February 19th, 2023 against the Seattle Sea Dragons.
