The Green Bay Packers are in full off-season mode now. Getting back to the Super Bowl will be the focus next season as we don’t know how long Aaron Rodgers will suit up for the Packers. With the imminent departure of Allen Lazard (and possibly Randall Cobb), adding a veteran wide receiver presence to the locker room would be huge. The Packers once were heavily rumored to be interested in trading for Texans’ wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Cooks has once again made it known he wants out of Houston.
Brandin Cooks Once Again Requests To Be Traded
“I’m not going into this offseason thinking I want to be a part of a rebuild,” Cooks said.
“I’m not looking at it as far as being a part of a rebuild, however that looks. That’s why I trust my camp and my representation to be able to get a map from here to there and to see what that looks like to be a part of something that has a trusted plan.”
According to Texans Daily on FanNation, Houston was seeking a second round draft pick in return for Cooks back in April 2022. Green Bay had four picks in the top 60 of the 2022 NFL draft and still never pulled the trigger. There are few 2023 free agent wide receivers (maybe none) who would make the immediate impact on Green Bay’s offense that Cooks would. After seeing Devante Parker get traded from Miami to New England last off-season for a third round pick, sending a second for Cooks seems like a no-brainer (if that is what the Texans still want).
Brandin Cooks has been at the center of trade talks for multiple off-seasons now. The wide receiver has had over 1,000 yards in 6 of his last 8 seasons. In 2022 he only played 13 games, however still ended the season with 57 receptions, 699 yards, and three touchdowns. Cooks is 29 years old and consistently proves to be one of the most reliable wide receivers in the NFL no matter who is throwing him the ball.

Let’s that this next season is handled with more intelligence than last seasons. Adams was destined to leave. But, the replacement with good receivers was a major miss. And, so were the game plans. If LaFluer wants to succeed, he needs to dissect the whole season for both sides of the ball. The defense stunk during the first half of the season and got better afterwards. Why? The offense had a similar outcome. If Rodgers is leaving, lick the wounds and move ahead. Don’t shrug the shoulders and don’t plane accordingly.
