A former Packers running back goes to the Saints
The Green Bay Packers have had a quiet free agency so far. Most of the attention the Packers are receiving during free agency week is thanks to an impending Aaron Rodgers trade. However, news recently broke that a former Packers running back has landed a deal with the New Orleans Saints. And he’s getting a pay raise.
According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Saints are signing Jamaal Williams for three years in New Orleans. He’ll receive $12 million with $8 million guaranteed.

That works out to about $4 million a year. Williams made $3 million a year while in Detroit. Williams had a phenomenal season for the Lions last year. The Lions, who recently signed former Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery, needed to move on from the 27-year-old running back.
Williams ran for 1,066 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns with the Lions last season. Williams was a former fourth-round draft pick by the Packers in 2017. The Saints backfield will be a little improved with him and quarterback Derek Carr.
