The NFL season is still young but there is one thing that a lot of teams are dealing with. Injuries have hit many teams hard leading some to look at the free agent market to try and find replacements. The Raiders have gotten off to a slow start and are looking for some help. A former Packers linebacker visited the Raiders this week.
Packers Former Linebacker Visits Raiders
The Raiders hosted veteran LB Blake Martinez on a free agent visit.
He played for DC Patrick Graham with the Giants the last two seasons.

Former Packers linebacker and leading tackler Blake Martinez was in Las Vegas this week. The Raiders are looking to boost their defense after a week 2 collapse. Martinez is a good tackler as he showed in his time in Green Bay. In his final three seasons as a Packers averaged 150 tackles per season. This was during the time of 16 game seasons so Martinez was showing up to play every week. It wasn’t just tackles either. Martinez had 10 sacks during his time with the Packers which is decent for a linebacker that didn’t blitz much. The other aspect of this is that the defensive coordinator for the Raiders spent the last two seasons with the Giants where Blake Martinez was playing.
Should The Packers Give Him A Look?
Many analysts have suggested that the Packers give Martinez a look. Especially after week 1 when it looked like the health of the inside linebacker position was not great. Going into week 3, it looks much better. Quay Walker looks amazing and the injury to Isaiah McDuffie was not as bad as it looked in real time. Ultimately, the Packers have need a many more positions than inside linebacker. I would rather see the Packers look for wide receiver or offensive line help rather than look at inside linebacker.
It is always interesting to see where former Packers go. I don’t think many Packers fans were really upset when Martinez left. For some players it is just time to move on. It remains to be seen whether the Raiders actually sign him. For now, the former Packers linebacker will simply keep up with the visits to teams.
