Former Packers FB John Kuhn Gives 3 Reasons Why Packers Game Was Flexed to Sunday Night

John Kuhn, the former Green Bay Packers fullback, has better insight into Aaron Rodgers than almost every other media personality. That is what comes from sharing a locker room and a field together for nine years. Due to this Kuhn, while excited for the prospect of the Packers winning and earning a place in the playoffs, has another view of the Sunday night matchup against the Lions. In his recent episode of “Nine 2 Noon,” Kuhn laid out three reasons why the NFL made the decision to flex the Packers versus Lions game to Prime Time.

John Kuhn Lists Three Reasons Why the NFL Wanted the Packers on Sunday Night

Towards the beginning of his show, John Kuhn reminded listeners that this could very well be Aaron Rodgers’ last game at Lambeau Field. If the Packers win on Sunday night, they will get into the playoffs as the final wild card team. This would mean that they would play all of the playoff games on the road, as they did on their way to a win in Super Bowl XLV. Regardless of if they win on Sunday, how deep they go in the playoffs, or if they win the Super Bowl, Rodgers has stated that he has not made a decision on 2023 yet. Instead, his focus is on the Lions on Sunday night.

Keeping that in mind, Kuhn laid out three reasons he believes the NFL decided to flex the Packers and Lions to Sunday night:

“Are we prepared for this, potentially, to be Aaron Rodgers’ last game? I mean, that’s a different layer that we haven’t brought up yet. There’s no doubt the NFL has thought this. There’s three reasons why this game is on Sunday night.

“One: Aaron Rodgers. Two: Lambeau Field. And three: the fact that this could potentially be Aaron Rodgers’ last game at quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.

    “That… I don’t know if we’re ready for this.

Kuhn’s co-host, former Wisconsin Badgers basketball star Brian Butch added: “I don’t think we’re ready for it because no one thought it was ever going to happen.”

The radio hosts pointed out that there is so much riding on this game for the Packers as a team (a playoff berth), that fans have not really given much of a thought to the potential that it could be Aaron Rodgers’ last game.

When one thinks of that, the Sunday night matchup becomes even more noteworthy.
