The XFL is coming back and is set to kick off this weekend. After a failed first attempt, the XFL comes back to give players another place to prove what they can do on the field. Many former NFL players populate these rosters. 32 former Green Bay Packers will make their debut in the XFL this season.

Former Green Bay Packers In XFL
Many players are not ones the common fan will recognize (I consider myself a super fan and even I went “who?” a couple of times). A lot of the former players are practice squad participants that didn’t pan out. Another handful is the ones that played due to injuries but did not make a huge impact. However, there are some recognizable names in the bunch. Check out the full list here but these are the notable names.
Notable Names
Safety Kentrell Brice will suit up for the DC Defenders. He played in Green Bay from 2016-18 and played in 36 games. Defensive lineman Jack Heflin only appeared in five games but showed enough promise that some thought he could make it in the league. He will suit up for the Houston Roughnecks. Wide receiver Darius Shepard appeared in four games from 2019-2020 and will play for the St. Louis Battlehawks. The most notable names are quarterback Brett Hundley and receiver Geronimo Allison who will play for the Vegas Vipers.

It will be interesting to see how this and other leagues like it do. People clearly love football but haven’t always picked up on the alternative leagues. Hopefully, they learned from past mistakes and we can get high-quality football year-round.
