The Green Bay Packers released Kurt Benkert earlier this offseason. While Benkert has already worked out for the Tennessee Titans, he has not found a new home in the NFL yet. He took another step towards a return to the NFL by working out for the Packers’ biggest and oldest rival, the Chicago Bears. Tom Grossi was the first to break the news:
The Chicago Bears hosted former Packers QB Kurt Benkert for a workout, per source.
Sigh…

Kurt Benkert confirmed Grossi’s Tweet by retweeting it himself:

The Chicago Bears already have several former Packers from last season on their team. Perhaps the most notable of these are offensive lineman Lucas Patrick and wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.

Kurt Benkert Deserves a Spot on a NFL Roster
Though Benkert only was with the Green Bay Packers for a single season, he quickly became one of the most popular players on the team. From joining Dairyland Express and Packers Wire writer Paul Bretl for a Fourth of July barbeque to defending Packers nation from verbal attacks from Greg Jennings and Mike Florio, Benkert always carried the G.
Benkert also endeared himself to Green Bay when he received the flag from the USS Green Bay last offseason. Additionally, even after he was released, he signed on to endorse an energy drink company based in Green Bay.
Even though it is the Chicago Bears, Benkert deserves to be on a NFL roster. The Bears would be a much harder team to hate with him as a part of it. Additionally, Packers fans would get to see him around more often than if he signed with other teams. Hopefully it works out for Benkert. The NFL is better with him as a part of it.
