In early January 2023, the Milwaukee Brewers DFA’d Trevor Kelley. This move came as a result of the Brew Crew trading for Bryse Wilson. Kelley ended up clearing waivers and electing free agency. He now has signed a new contract with the Tampa Bay Rays.
#Rays add another interesting potential bullpen option on minor-league deal with camp invite, RHP Trevor Kelley. Has time with #RedSox, #Phillies, #Brewers, 1-3, 7.13 in 32 games. Was DFA’d by MIL, cleared waivers, declined AAA assignment, became free agent. 2.26 ERA in minors.

Kelley appeared in 18 games for the Brewers last season and pitched 23.2 innings. He finished the year with a 6.08 ERA and he surrendered seven home runs. As mentioned above, he did have a great season in the minors, but unfortunately that success did not translate to the major league level.
The Rays and Kelley agreed on a minor league deal with an invite to Major League Camp. Kelley does have one minor league option remaining, so if he does eventually earn a 40-man roster spot he can be optioned to the minors if needed.
