Although his time in Milwaukee was brief, Chi Chi Gonzalez was a member of the Brewers in 2022. The right-handed starting pitcher was claimed off waivers from the Twins mid-season. He was added in order to provide depth after a few Brewers pitchers had been placed on the injured list. Gonzalez was also briefly a member of the Yankees in 2022 as well. Now he has found a new home as he signed a minor league deal with the Marlins.

Gonzalez appeared in just four games for the Brewers last year. Between June 21 and July 10 he started two games and worked in relief during the other two. Overall, he surrendered eight earned runs in 11.1 innings pitched. This equates to a 6.35 ERA.
The former Brewers pitcher has now signed a MiLB deal with the Marlins.
Currently, the Marlins have a solid starting rotation. Their rotation consists of Sandy Alcantara, Pablo López, Jesús Luzardo, Edward Cabrera, Trevor Rogers and Braxton Garrett. They additionally have pitching prospect Eury Perez in the minors.
There have been rumors that the Marlins may be looking to trade away one of their starting rotation pieces. If this occurs, perhaps a door opens up for Gonzalez to see some major league playing time. For now, it appears that his signing was a move to improve their pitching depth.
