There have been plenty of rumors surrounding wide receivers this NFL offseason. Of course, that could be said of any offseason. That being said, while names like Julio Jones and Odell Beckham Jr. still get thrown around, one name that has been forgotten is that of Antonio Brown. Well, the former All-Pro put himself back in the headlines (as he tends to do) with a major announcement on Saturday night.
Will Antonio Brown Play in the NFL in 2022?
For background, let’s get an understanding of what FCF is. FCF stands for Fan Controlled Football. It is a relatively new football league in which fans get to choose plays, a la the Madden videogame franchise. Antonio Brown was at a FCF game when the commentators asked if he was going to play in the NFL in 2022. His response: “Nah.”
“Nah.”
Antonio Brown had a simple 3-letter response when asked if he’s playing next season 😶

This should come as no surprise. The controversial wide receiver had one of the most dramatic exits in sports history when he ran off the field in the middle of a game.

Antonio Brown later explained that he was injured. Bucs coach Bruce Arians wanted him to play through it, but Brown did not feel that was in his best interest.
A Career of Controversy
As great of a wide receiver as Antonio Brown is (or was), he was just as controversial. Of course, that is a kind way of saying that he was down-right deplorable. From accusations of sexual assault to down-right questionable moral character, he was never far from headlines (or the tabloids). At 35 years old, one has to assume that his career is over at this point. There are many veterans available that will bring much less controversy. Brown has burned all of his bridges in Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay. It’s hard to see him getting a shot next year at age 36.
Well, except maybe in Cleveland.
