Yes, Aaron Rodgers is no longer the starting quarterback, but the Packers feel like Jordan Love is ready to be the starting quarterback. No one will probably pick Love in your usual 1QB drafts. But who are some of the best Packers players to pick this season in fantasy football drafts?
Fantasy Football: Top Packers Players to Target in 2023
Green Bay Packers Defense/Special Teams
This will come as a surprise for some, but it really shouldn’t. Over the past few years, the Packers have had a really good defensive unit. They will rack up some sacks and force some turnovers. The Green Bay Packers have a very good secondary, and Jaire Alexander is their top corner in his prime.
Preston Smith led the team a season ago with 8.5 sacks, and Rasual Douglas also had four interceptions, which led the team. Quay Walker is a player that could break out this season for the Packers. Their special teams unit was dicey before Rich Bisaccia was hired in 2022, but this unit will be drafted based on its defense alone.
Aaron Jones (RB)
Aaron Jones remains one of the top running backs in fantasy football. Jones rushed for 1,121 yards on 213 carries and only two touchdowns last season. Expect his number of rushing touchdowns to increase this season. He also caught 59 passes for 395 yards receiving and five touchdowns last season.
With Aaron Rodgers no longer the focal point of the Packers’ offense, Aaron Jones will become the featured weapon.
AJ Dillon (RB)
AJ Dillon will also see a lot of snaps for the Green Bay Packers offense this season. They will be a run-first football team that can set up play-action for Love. This is what head coach Matt LaFleur wants to become.
Dillon rushed for 770 yards on 186 carries and seven touchdowns last season. He also caught 28 passes for 206 yards receiving last season
Other Packers Players To Target in Fantasy Football Drafts
Some of the other Packers players to watch for on this team are second-year wide receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. Watson might become Love’s favorite target. The projected starting tight end for the Green Bay Packers this season is rookie Luke Musgrave, who was drafted in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft (42nd overall) out of Oregon State.
Rookie wide receiver Jayden Reed was the 50th overall selection (a second-round pick) in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Michigan State. Jayden Reed is someone to watch for the Green Bay Packers as a potential fantasy football pick as training camp progresses.
