The Green Bay Packers have a number of key players that went down with injuries last season. One of them was second-year cornerback Eric Stokes. While he was struggling after a fantastic rookie year, he still is an important part of the Packers’ defense. The Packers provided an update on the Eric Stokes injury and the news was promising.

Eric Stokes Injury Update
Injuries can be tricky. There can often be setbacks or mental hurdles to get over. Stokes seems to be on track to start the season. “Eric has had zero setbacks and is ahead of schedule,” a source told SI.com. There isn’t necessarily a timetable for his return yet but the reports are that he will not miss any training camp. This is great news for the Packers. If the defense is going to have a bounce-back year, Stokes has to play better. He showed promise in his rookie season and now needs to prove that he can be one of the great young cornerbacks in the game.

Promising Injury News Overall
GM Brian Gutekunst was very optimistic about all of the injured stars. He said that every report about Rashan Gary has been positive. One source even stated that Gary is ahead of schedule and is hoping to be ready for week 1. This would be an insanely fast comeback but speaks to Gary’s work ethic. David Bakhtiari was also talked about and how he is looking forward to an offseason of doing football work instead of rehabbing his knee.
While the draft and free agency are great places to add talent, sometimes gaining injured players back can make just as much of an impact. The Eric Stokes injury update is a good one. Having Stokes back should help solidify the secondary depending on what the Packers decide to do at safety. All reports are good and the hope is that good news keeps coming on the injury front.
