The Green Bay Packer didn’t start the season like they wanted to. A 23-7 loss to the Vikings in Minnesota was a rough start to the season to say the least. It was a long week of trash talk from Vikings fans after that one. However the NFL is a rapidly changing league and just one week later the Vikings looked completely different. The Eagles must’ve learned from what the Packers did wrong and did the exact opposite. Darius Slay matched up one on one against Justin Jefferson all night. Something Green Bay didn’t do with Jaire Alexnder.

On the night Justin Jefferson finished with 6 receptions on 12 targets for 48 yards and no touchdowns. That is a drastic difference from one week ago when Jefferson notched a career high in receiving yards. The difference? Darius Slay got to have his way with Jefferson. Jaire Alexander never got that chance. Alexander even commented on that after the game. “The game plan was to not allow 18 to beat us,” Alexander said, via Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com. “Why I wasn’t on him, that’s not my call. Anybody watch me play, you know that’s what I want.” Jaire Alexander has made it obvious he always wants to be matched up against the best of the best. The next time he faces Justin Jefferson, that may be the case.
The Vikings and Packers don’t play again until week 17. That will be on January 1st in Green Bay. These two teams could look completely different by that time in the season. With that being said, if more CB1s have success lining up one on one vs Justin Jefferson I would be surprised if Green Bay doesn’t try that late in the season. It was clear that once Justin Jefferson was taken out of the equation, the Vikings’ offense struggled. It was the same way in week one. If it wasn’t Justin Jefferson, the Vikings offense wasn’t doing much. Green Bay has the blueprint to beat Minnesota, and Philadelphia gave it to them on primetime television.
