“Thanasis” is a song worth a listen.

The new song “Thanasis” might be the jam the Bucks and their fan base need to propel the team through the playoffs. Like the infamous “Black and Yellow”, “Thanasis” by Other Moods featuring the lyrics and raps of Jordy Skywalker. It is a new hip-hop jam! Now, Lil Wayne certainly has a much, much larger global profile and “Black and Yellow” is great. But when you stop to think about a great Bucks jam, it should be something “underground”, humble, and local.
Other Moods, a seemingly Minneapolis-based group, does not have much of a bio available. The group is a duo, featuring Justin Dow and Ryan Truax. They also have some more guitar-based, alternative/country rock videos available on youtube. They also collaborate quite a bit with Jordy Skywalker.
Featured a ton lately on 88.9 Radio Milwaukee, the newer song has quickly become a regular play on the airwaves. It’s not really that long of a song (less than three minutes) but its ominous beginning and clever opening lyric, “I am not Giannis to be honest, I’m Thanasis off the bench” adds to its coolness. Another great lyric is, “Like a Booby shot. We are all buckets like a Bobby shot.” It has a new cool beat.

According to the Group, “New song and video “Thanasis” is here! It’s an ode to the Bucks, the Antetokounmpo’s and brothers everywhere. Dedicated to my brother Micah John Sandvig we love you always. Music by Justin Dow and Ryan Tru Truax of Other Moods. Streaming everywhere.”
Now I don’t want to date myself too much, but it does not appear that the song is available anywhere on tape or cd. (Then again, kids today might not even know what that is.) But to be available on streaming services everywhere seems cool. Just part of the “new” school.
