At 6’8″, left-handed reliever Angel Perdomo can appear intimidating on the mound. The tall and lanky reliever can also throw quite hard. Despite this, he has not pitched in a major league game since 2021 when he was a member of the Brewers. He was claimed off waivers by the Rays in July and has now signed a minor league contract with a NL Central team.
Angel Perdomo, former Brewers reliever, has signed a minor league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Perdomo made his major league debut with the Brewers during the 2020 season. He made just three appearances and struggled with command as he walked seven batters. In 2021, he covered 17 innings in the major leagues. He again struggled to the tune of a 6.35 ERA. That year he walked 16 batters but struck out 28.
With the Rays in 2022, Perdomo did not get a promotion to the big leagues. However, his minor league numbers were incredible. He struck out 56 batters over 34 innings with a 1.85 ERA. At seasons end, he elected free agency and will now try his luck in the Pirates organization.
Perdomo is out of minor league options, so if he does reach the big leagues again he will have to perform well in order to stay there. As a high strikeout pitcher he has the potential to have major league success. As Brewer fans, we will be monitoring his progress from within the division.
