The Bucks might be a team that shows interest

Would the Milwaukee Bucks be a better team with shooting guard/small forward Dillon Brooks? Would the sometimes controversial trash-talking player make them a better team?
Let’s take a deeper dive into what Dillon Brooks in a Bucks uniform might look like.

Why is Brooks a free-agent?
The NBA world was stunned by the news that NBA Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks would, “not be re-signed under any circumstances.” It was a harsh message for a “junkyard dawg” of a player. Known for really targeting LeBron James in an NBA playoff series, Brooks is really thought-of as a good defensive player. Game 2 of that series was especially interesting with Brooks being quoted afterwards as saying, “I poke Bears.” He also was quoted as saying, ““I don’t care, he’s old.”
Of course like the Bucks, the Grizzlies lost the series.
For Memphis to “move on” from Brooks feels like a scapegoat. The analogy seems to be if Milwaukee publicly blamed their loss on Brook Lopez. It was truly a team series loss for Memphis as it was for Milwaukee.
But similar to Milwaukee signing Boogie Cousins or PJ Tucker, bringing in a trash-talker to offset the goodness and kindness of Giannis isn’t always a terrible thing. It can help.
If Brooks could improve on his shooting and also bring that swager to this team, it could work. He would not have to remake his game all that much.

Brooks can also play. Over his career he has averaged 14/3/2 while shooting over 34% from behind the arc. In Milwaukee’s 3 point-heavy system he could really thrive. Not really known as a “natural shooter” he still would bring an added scoring punch. (He ranks 10th overall in scoring at the University of Oregon.) He also tends to score in bunches, something that might fit in well with Milwaukee.
He also plays the same position and “role” as Khris Middleton.
If Milwaukee decides to move on from Khris Middleton, or Middleton decides to move on from them, Brooks would be a viable replacement. The end of the season for the Milwaukee Bucks was about as brutal of an end as anyone could have expected. The franchise was expected and built to be able to compete for an NBA Championship. Instead, their season is over after having lost to the #8 seed Miami Heat 4 games to 1. For Milwaukee to make the roster moves they made, and then lose as badly as they lost, major changes should be forthcoming and expected to be made. Signing Brooks would certainly fall under the idea of a “major change”.
The Memphis Grizzlies have informed pending free agent Dillon Brooks that he will not be brought back under any circumstances, league sources say.

Some random Dillon Brooks Tidbits
- Brooks played for the University of Oregon where he was a second-team All American.
- Brooks is 27, almost the same age as Giannis Antetokounmpo.
- Brooks is 6’6″.
- This article was a pretty easy one to write. Almost “every” sports outlet centered around a team has wondered if Brooks would be a good fit. What does that tell you? It means he’s going to play somewhere and is going to help some team win.
