New York Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is expected to play on Monday night against the Green Bay Packers, according to sources that told ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. Lawrence was dealing with a hamstring injury over the last couple of weeks.
The Giants are coming off a bye week after beating the New England Patriots 10-7. Dexter Lawrence missed his first game of his NFL career against them and he may not have a big workload against the Packers, but it is better than not having at all play.
Dexter Lawrence is one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL so the Green Bay Packers’ interior offensive line will have to be ready because they don’t want him to wreck the game. Lawrence so far this season has recorded 41 tackles, four sacks, and two pass deflections.
Had Dexter Lawrence not been available for this game, rookie Jordon Riley would have started in his place, but Riley will probably get some snaps anyway.
Dexter Lawrence Returning For the New York Giants Is Huge For Them Against the Green Bay Packers
Believe it or not, this game is huge for both teams on Monday night football. Even though the Packers sit at 6-6 and the Giants sit at 4-8 on the year, both teams are alive for a wild card spot in the NFC. If Green Bay wins, that will settle everything for New York’s playoff hopes. If the New York Giants do beat the Green Bay Packers, then the Giants will be one game back of the Packers for the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC.
Green Bay must neutralize Lawrence and not make him a factor whatsoever. They need to make quarterback Jordan Love comfortable in the pocket. He has played well over the last three games and the Giants love to blitz, although they do have one of the worst defenses in the NFL this season. Even with one of their top players back, the Packers offense should be able to score some points in this one.
With a Giants loss, they would go up to the fourth selection in the 2024 NFL Draft and if they win, they would go to the 10th selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Playoff stakes are on the line for both teams in this one.
