Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell wasted no time moving on to the next opponent immediately after Detroit defeated the Atlanta Falcons 20-6 this past Sunday. The Lions are 2-1 on the year and so are the Green Bay Packers. The winner of this football game will go into first place in the NFC North.
A season ago, Dan Campbell and the Lions swept the regular season series with the Packers. They also eliminated the Packers from playoff contention on the final day of the 2022 NFL regular season, which led to the eventual departure of Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb.
This is a new season with some new challenges. Green Bay will have Jordan Love under center, but Detroit will have Jared Goff under center once again. Dan Campbell knows how important Thursday’s matchup is with the Green Bay Packers and he told the associated press about the upcoming match-up:
“We had a few things to clean up, so we just hit that quickly, but we know we can’t spend time on Atlanta. Our coaches watched as quickly as they could, and now everything gets focused on Green Bay.”
This is a big game early on in the season for both teams. This could go a long way in potentially deciding the division later on in the season. It feels like both or only one of these teams will make the playoffs in the NFC North this season considering the fact that the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears are both 0-3 to start the 2023 NFL regular season.
Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell Loves the Lambeau Field Atmosphere
One of the cool things about this Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers rivalry is that the other opposing teams love to cherish the Packers home field, Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Dan Campbell also told the associated press:
“There’s always something special about going to Lambeau-I told our rookies they are going to enjoy this. It doesn’t get any better than this when it comes to atmosphere.”
Detroit is ready for the challenge and is also ready to bring that energy on Thursday night. If the Green Bay Packers do not bring the same energy as they do, it is going to be a long night for them.
