Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are getting ready to take on the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. It is the biggest game of the season to date. The Packers-Lions game has massive playoff implications. One of the Detroit Lions’ leading tacklers decided to open his mouth prior to Sunday’s game. This time directed at Packers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
DeSon Elliot Calls Out Aaron Rodger Prior to Week 18
According to Kyle Meinke, a Detroit Lions beat writer, Safety DeShon Elliot lashed out at Aaron Rodgers:
The way he carries himself, I don’t like none of that shit. A-Rod doesn’t respect us, that team doesn’t respect us… We’re going to fight our ass off, play smash mouth football, just ’cause of the respect factor. Like, we all got here someway, somehow. Ya, he’s a Hall-of-Famer, but I just don’t respect the way he’s been talking.
Bro, you respect everybody in this league. And for you to see something or hear someone say some wild stuff about you or your teammates or your brothers, shoot, what are you going to do? Are you going to lay down or stand up? So we’re going to go out there and stand up.
The Packers and Lions first contest came back in Week 9 with Detroit taking a 15-9 victory. Rodgers threw for 291 yards, but also threw three interceptions. While Elliot didn’t pick off Rodgers, he did have seven tackles, which was tied for third highest on the team. Rodgers was quoted saying “you can’t lose a game like that against that team” after they suffered their week 9 defeat. Here is the video:

The reality is, the Packers are a different team in week 18. They were 3-6 back in Week 9. Now, Green Bay holds an 8-8 record. A win over the Lions would clinch the Packers a postseason berth. DeShon Elliot has 91 total tackles this year, three pass deflections, and one interception this year. The Lions are 8-8 on the season as well and are 6-2 in their last 8 games. Meanwhile the Packers are on a 4 game win streak after starting 4-8 and control their own destiny en-route to the playoffs. This Packers-Lions game will be the biggest game of the rivalry in recent memory.
