Christian Watson’s injury status looks the same as Wednesday
Passing the ball efficiently was a major issue in the Green Bay Packers’ loss to the New York Jets in Week 6. The Packers had several key wide receivers out, and the offensive line continues to struggle in pass protection. The Packers have yet to reach out for a trade on the offensive line or wide receiver. No major free agents have been inked during the season. One variable to monitor to see if the Packers make a move is how the improvement of Christian Watson’s injury goes.
Watson is suffering a hamstring injury. The Packers discussed placing Watson on injured reserve as his healing might take some time. They have yet to do that yet. There’s not much room on the roster to waste even a week if Watson could return before the four-week destination. Randall Cobb is expected to be placed on injured reserve. Sammy Watkins is slated to return from the designation, but head coach Matt LaFleur said this week that it would take some time before he was fully ready to go.
Watson was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday’s practice. A common trend this year has been to see that some Packers plays who don’t participate in Wednesday’s practice come back and return on Thursday or Friday. According to the injury report released by the Packers Thursday, Christian Watson’s injury status hasn’t changed since Wednesday.
Watson isn’t the only Packer healing
The Packers’ list kept several players from practicing Thursday. Of the four Packers who did not practice Wednesday, only one player returned to practice Thursday. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is battling a thumb injury. The only change from Wednesday’s report was tight end Marcedes Lewis. He took a veteran rest day.
The Packers have several vital pieces healing in the middle of October. With the team currently sitting at .500, the team has only so long to wait for help before they could be out of the playoff hunt, much less a Super Bowl run. The trade deadline is just over a week away. Expect lots of explosive rumors to be floating about in Green Bay.
