Davante Adams is considered one of the best, if not the best wide receiver in the NFL. He shouldn’t be jealous of any pass catcher in the NFL, but former teammate Aaron Rodgers claims that was the case near the end of the All-Pro’s time in Green Bay.
A bombshell report from The Athletic has spilled the beans on many issues related to the end of the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers partnership. Rodgers blasted the Packers’ front office for how they communicated with him during his final few seasons with the team. Rodgers said he wasn’t the only player that had problems with the front office.
Davante Adams was jealous of Christian Kirk
According to Matt Scheidman’s report published Wednesday, the Packers’ front office managed to make the best wide receiver in the league jealous of Christian Kirk. Rodgers thinks that’s part of the reason Adams wanted to be traded last offseason:
“They offered him less money than Christian Kirk ($18 million per year) and (Adams) is going, ‘Are you serious right now? I’m the best receiver in the league, and you’re gonna offer me less than Christian Kirk?” Rodgers said. “With all due respect, he’s not on Davante’s level.
“I’m sure that the team will say that’s just the business of negotiation — it’s like, yeah, but you’re also sending a message to that guy, and a lot of times it can stick with guys and make them a little sour on things. … That goes back to the first offer that they made, and I don’t think (the Packers) had the foresight — obviously didn’t have the foresight.”
While shutting down negotiations during the 2021 season, Adams, like Rodgers, posted a second consecutive All-Pro campaign. “By the time he got to the end of it, I think he kind of made up his mind he was gonna go somewhere else,” Rodgers said.
It’s pretty ridiculous that the Packers thought they’d come in with an introductory offer near Kirk’s salary. Adams appeared to feel disrespected by the money game the Packers were playing with him. The NFL is a business, and the Packers have every right to negotiate how they want to. But now that the Packers have lost two of their best players in two offseasons, they might want to change their strategy in dealing with veterans.

Come on Green Bay Packer’s Front Office! What’s the deal people. These players are out there playing their hearts out. I just don’t get it.😔😒🤨😠🤬
AR wasnt putting full effort for the TEAM for several years. Changing run calls at the goal line to pass for his own stats, sulking on the sidelines after failed third downs rather than trying to lift up his TEAM mates. Not showing up for spring practices knowing there were new WRs on the team, questioning play calls, I could go on and on. Good riddance, I wish they had unloaded him two years ago when he was wanted by more than one team.
I think Green Bays front office needs a overhaul. They don’t seem to have a clue what they’re doing.
Getting rid of all their veterans this year is going to bite them in the butt for years to come.
