Davante Adams Anticipated To See Third QB In Two Seasons

Davante Adams could have yet another QB throwing him passes

A 2-5 record heading into Week 9 is not where the Las Vegas Raiders expected to be. First-year head coach Josh McDaniels was supposed to help fix the Raiders’ offense. The addition of wide receiver Davante Adams should have been the target that elevated quarterback Derek Carr’s game.

That hasn’t been the case this season. The Raiders rank 24th in the league in passing. Adams has good but not great stats this season. He has five touchdowns and 512 yards receiving. However, Adams’ numbers have been inconsistent week to week. Much of the blame is falling on Carr. One NFL writer thinks the team needs to look at moving on from Carr.

Carr is forecasted to be benched this season

Carr has nine touchdowns to five interceptions heading into Week 9. He has just 1,621 passing yards about halfway through the 17-week NFL season. Alex Ballentine with Bleacher Report wrote a piece on bold predictions for the second half of the NFL season. Ballentine suggests the Raiders might decide to take a look at another quarterback other than the struggling Carr:

However, the Raiders are going to be in an interesting situation with Carr this offseason. He just signed an extension but he only carries a dead cap charge of $5.6 million, making him an ideal trade or cut candidate if the Raiders want to go in another direction.

That could mean handing over the keys to see what Stidham can do over the final stretch of the season.

Stidham would be an interesting QB to mix with Davante Adams

This would be an interesting switch to the Raiders’ plans. The Raiders invested heavily in Carr during this past offseason with a shiny new contract. Jarrett Stidham isn’t the quarterback a team would likely turn to for the future. He has two touchdowns to four interceptions in his four-year NFL career. One wouldn’t think Adams is begging to catch balls from Stidham. The Raiders will have to find a way to make the offense gel with the weapons and brain power they invested in this year.
