Davante Adams addresses being traded publicly for first time

Today Davante Adams spoke publicly for the first time since being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. He had a lot of things to say, and brought up family a lot.

    “It’s a dream to be a Raider”

He goes on to speak about the decisions that led up to the trade:

Former #Packers WR Davante Adams says he didn't "entertain" wanting to play with Raiders, for a reunion with Derek Carr, during last season. It wasn't until after decompressing from how season ended that desire came about.

Davante Adams said the turning point was sitting down and figuring out what was best for him and his family. Mentioned his family out West.  “It’s a dream come true to be able to do this thing.”

Adams brought up his family a second time; a second child on the way, grandmother who was recently in the hospital and father who drives everywhere — as reasons he wanted to play closer to home with the Raiders.

    Grateful for Green Bay:

Davante Adams on #Packers: "Me playing in Green Bay, a great situation. Having the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, that is a dream itself. I would never take anything away from Green Bay, and what Green Bay gave me."

    — Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) March 22, 2022

It’s a big change to go from Green Bay to Vegas, even for Davante:

Davante Adams on moving to Las Vegas after spending last eight seasons in pro sports' smallest market: "It's like going from East Palo Alto to Green Bay. A little bit of culture shock in reverse."

    — Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) March 22, 2022

    Lastly…. It was confirmed:

Davante will wear #17 in Las Vegas.

It seems as though there may have been more personal reasons for Adams to go to Las Vegas than originally thought.  Either way it doesn’t make it any easier on Packers fans seeing him in the Black and Silver.  Good luck #17.
