The Milwaukee Bucks face a looming dilemma centered on their superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the organization needs answers soon.

The Greek Freak has already secured his legacy as one of basketball’s all time greats, but dissatisfaction with the supporting cast has continued to build. After standing pat at the trade deadline, many around the league believe momentum is shifting toward a potential blockbuster deal in the offseason.

However, former NBA champion turned ESPN analyst Danny Green shared on NBA Today that Milwaukee could still convince its Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay long term by surrounding him with elite talent. He pointed to the situation in Los Angeles as a prime opportunity, suggesting the Bucks could capitalize and bring another future Hall of Famer to the Eastern Conference to strengthen their roster around Giannis.

"[Giannis] is very calculated in what he's saying. … If you can get a player like Kawhi, or someone similar to that, that can keep Giannis home."

“It’s very calculated what he’s saying. He knows what he’s saying, but it’s like Bobby said, Mr. Marks, it’s day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month with him in Milwaukee, and they don’t want to trade him. I wouldn’t want to trade him either, so if you want to keep him, you’ve got to go out in the market and find somebody that can keep him there. ,” Green commented.

After transforming a rocky start into one of the more impressive midseason turnarounds in recent memory, the Clippers suddenly shifted direction at the trade deadline and chose to sell, parting ways with key contributors such as Ivica Zubac and James Harden in exchange for younger players with uncertain upside.

“If I’m the Milwaukee Bucks, I’m monitoring what the Clippers are doing with the Kawhi situation. If you can get a player like Kawhi or something similar to that, that can keep Giannis home, and then also build around that group to make it a contender in the East.”

If Kawhi Leonard hits the market this summer in some form, it could open the door for Milwaukee to make a bold move. Adding a player of his caliber might be enough to reassure Antetokounmpo that he can contend with the franchise that drafted him rather than explore opportunities elsewhere.
