Player Synopsis
After a season where Milwaukee secured themselves as a top pitching staff in baseball, Daniel Norris was nothing more than a depth acquisition for Milwaukee at the trade deadline. Acquired from Detroit, Norris was brought in and thought to be an instant relief man in the bullpen. And to assist a playoff push the Brewers made in the fall. However, Hunter Strickland, Aaron Ashby, and Miguel Sanchez all earned valuable time over Norris late this season.
It’s also possible he spent too much time trying to find “matches” on Bumble such as my Twitter friend and DieHard Detroit Tigers fan @donniekellybaby. But who’s to say. Perhaps his most famous moment in Detroit was back in his rookie season of 2015 when he hit a Home Run in his first career at-bat.

The highlight of his Brewers career may have been giving up a grand slam to former Brewers SS Jean Segura. Detroit Tigers fans would argue it was before he was even traded this past July:

Trade Details
In exchange for Daniel Norris, Milwaukee gave 22-year old Minor Leaguer Reese Olson to the Tigers. Before being shipped off to the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers High A Minor League affiliate), Olson started 34 games for the Wisconsin Timblerattlers (Brewers High A Minor League affiliate).

Stats
{Allow parentheses to be Milwaukee stats and Brackets to be Detroit stats.}
Daniel Norris’ stat line for the Brewers was worse if not the same as the Tigers. His WAR was -0.03 with both teams and had a higher HR (5) vs. [4], HR9(2.2) vs. [1.0], BB9(6.6) vs. [3.7], an ERA of (6.64) vs [5.89], All in a little over ½ the number of innings pitched.
2022 Outlook
Currently, Daniel Norris is not on the Brewers roster as he is a free agent. Chris Hook (Pitching Coach) and Steve Karsay (Bullpen Coach) may have a card up their sleeve for Norris. The likely scenario however is that it finds another rebuilding team like Detroit and gets a regular late-inning every other day role.
