A current Wisconsin Badgers’ wide receiver has signed with a new NIL agency ahead of a looming off-season that could produce a handful of departures.
Last year, talented receiver Trech Kekahuna entered his name into the transfer portal after his coordinator, Phil Longo, was fired mid-season. Kekahuna barely broke 300 receiving yards and likely would have had lucrative offers flying in. Wisconsin and new coordinator Jeff Grimes were able to pull off a miracle and convince the receiver to return.
This season has not exactly gone to plan for Kekahuna and the Badgers. The receiver has just 22 receptions for 204 yards with one game remaining in the season. Kekahuna also had 131 rushing yards and one touchdown as motion and sweep plays have become a mainstay in the repertoire of the receiver.
Kekahuna announced on social media that he would sign with 1 of 1 Agency, a growing name in the realm of collegiate NIL deals. The agency is a multifaceted company that made a name for themselves in the NFL before making the jump over to college football. The agency represents household NFL names such as Devin and Jason McCourty, Lane Johnson, and Nate Burleson.
Wisconsin Badgers’ WR Trech Kekahuna Announces New NIL Agency

While signing with an agency does not necessarily mean a player is gone, Kekahuna previously entered the portal and returned to Madison with hopes of more production. Unfortunately, Kekahuna recorded 135 less receiving yards this season.
An important note: 1 of 1 Agency offers a particular service to all athletes called the “TPM” which is short for Transfer Portal Maximization. The service allows players to “explore, inquire, and strategically plan options outside of their current university.”
The agency and the TPM service in particular became well known after joining forces with David Stone Jr., a five-star defensive tackle. Stone was at the forefront of an ugly situation involving Oklahoma in which the recruit entered the transfer portal abruptly, claiming the two sides were miles apart from agreeing on what his NIL value truly was. Stone ultimately returned, but remains a key client of the agency alongside multiple other Sooners’ players.
The service does not necessarily mean Kekahuna is leaving Madison, as Stone and others returned to their respective programs, but it does mean the potential is there. Former UNH quarterback Max Brosner, Illinois tackle Kevin Wingenton, and West Virginia tackle Tomas Rimac all used 1 of 1 Agency to facilitate transfers to new schools. Brosner notably transferred to Minnesota before earning a shot with the Vikings in the NFL.

Can the Wisconsin Badgers Hold Onto Kekahuna for a Second Time?
Kekahuna previously entered the transfer portal but a heroic effort from offensive guru Jeff Grimes led to the receiver returning. Kekahuna likely would have had plenty of options in the portal, but ultimately committed to giving the new-look offense a chance.
The offense of Wisconsin, however, went backwards this year and so did the production of the receiver. Plenty can be blamed for such an event including the inconsistent and injured offensive line, multiple quarterbacks, and a struggle to find an identity.
Kekahuna could certainly understand this and opt to give Wisconsin another chance yet again. NIL agencies can be used for negotiations with the program a player is currently a member of, which could be the avenue the receiver opts to go.
