Commanders achieve historic Week 2 feat vs. Packers not seen since late 1960s

The Washington Commanders are 1-1 through two weeks in the 2025 NFL regular season. After blowing out the New York Giants in a 21-6 win at home in Week 1, Jayden Daniels and company failed to follow that up with another victory.

Playing on a short week last Thursday, Washington fell prey to Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay was simply too good on both sides of the ball for Washington. The Commanders were held to only 230 total yards while allowing 404 to the host team.

Daniels passed for two touchdowns with 200 passing yards, but he needed 42 throws to get there, completing just 24 of his passes on a night in which he was sacked four times for a loss of 21 yards.

If anything, at least Washington did not turn the ball over for the second game in a row.

Commanders pull off rare achievement vs. Green Bay not seen in decades

Just like in their win against Russell Wilson and the Giants, the Commanders never recorded a turnover, even against the overpowering Green Bay defense that now features four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Micah Parsons.

For the first time since the late 1960s, Washington managed to avoid a turnover in two games to open a season in back-to-back years.

    Via the Commanders’ official website:

Washington has recorded zero turnovers in back-to-back weeks to start the season in consecutive years. It’s the first occurrence in franchise history since the 1968-69 seasons.

That’s one consolation the Commanders can have in a game where they didn’t really have much to write home about.
