The Cincinnati Reds have been dealing with numerous injuries and illnesses over the past few months of the season.  Unfortunately thing are not looking good for one of their rookies as Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s reported that one rookie is to remain sidelined for two to three more weeks.  If this time frame holds true it leaves very little time left in the regular season and currently the team is chasing a spot in the post season.

Cincinnati Reds rookie Matt McLain to remain sidelined for two to three more weeks (MLB News).

Matt McLain is currently on the IL with an oblique injury and Charlie Goldsmith’s report indicates that he will remain out for two to three more weeks.  If this timeline holds true that is a major blow for the Reds because if he returns then there would be very little time left in the regular season.

Despite injuries to key players the Reds are hanging around in the NL Wild Card race.  Entering play on September 4 they have a 71-68 record and are just a half game back of the Chicago Cubs.  Cincinnati holds the tie breaker over Chicago, so that is important to remember as again this year there are no game 163s.
