Christian Yelich has not been the same player he was in 2018 and 2019 but has been plagued with injuries. In 2022 Yelich seemed to be trending in the right direction.
Christian Yelich Offensive Grade: C+

Yelich had his best offensive season since he signed his 9-year/$215 million contract in 2020. Unfortunately, his production is still not at the MVP level he was once playing at. In 2022 Yelich slashed .252/.355/.383. His 14 home runs were the most he’s hit since finishing second in the MVP race in 2019. His most impressive home run came when he hit a 499-foot home run at Coors field. The most impressive part of Yelich’s game this year was his ability to draw walks.
499 FEET FROM CHRISTIAN YELICH 😳🚀
That's the longest lefty HR in Coors Field history.

Yelich has always had a great eye at the plate, and it showed last season. His ability to get on base was a huge part of the Brewers’ production, especially when Yelich took over the lead-off role. He had multiple, long, hit streaks and showed more consistency at the plate when moving to the lead-off spot. Expect Yelich to be the opening-day lead-off hitter. Yelich also stole 19 bases last season.
Christian Yelich Defensive Grade: B+

Yelich’s arm in left field is a weak part of his game, but the former gold glover can still cover some serious ground. Yelich had just one error in 2022 and was nominated for another Gold Glove. Overall Yelich was just as good defensively as fans expected going into the season.
Looking ahead, Yelich will likely spend 2023 splitting time between DH and LF again. The addition of Jesse Winker and the emergence of Garrett Mitchell will play a role in the outfield rotation.
Overall Grade: B
As Always
