Christian Watson and the Green Bay Packers are getting ready to take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17. The Packers had several players with day-to-day injuries following the team’s win over the Miami Dolphins. Christian Watson was one of those players. The Packers added a wide receiver, Bo Melton, to their active roster Tuesday before practice for the Vikings begins on Wednesday.
According to a statement by the Packers, the team signed wide receiver Bo Melton to their active roster. He was on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad before the Packers poached Melton. According to the statement, Melton will wear the number 80 jersey. However, Melton isn’t a stranger to everyone in the locker room. Christian Watson reportedly trained with Melton prior to the season.
Christian Watson And Bo Melton Trained Together Before the Season
Green Bay Packers’ new wide receiver Bo Melton trained with Christian Watson at Bommarito Performance Systems in Miami prior to the draft. At the 2022 NFL Combine, Melton ran his 40 in 4.34 seconds. That was the fifth-fastest time of all players who were drafted in 2022. He actually beat Watson that day by two-hundredths of a second. Christian Watson commented on their training sessions after Bo Melton was signed. Specifically, who was faster:
“Throughout training, it was pretty much a known thing that I was running faster than him,” Watson said on Thursday. “He knew that I was faster than him, I knew that I was faster than him, and it didn’t pan out that way at the Combine. I think deep down, he still knows who’s faster.”
Bo Melton (5-11, 189) was originally selected by the Seahawks in the seventh round (No. 229 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Rutgers University. He has spent the entire regular season on Seattle’s practice squad. Bo Melton finished his college career ranked No. 3 in program history with 56 games played, No. 6 with 164 receptions, tied for No. 8 with five 100-yard receiving games and No. 10 with 2,011 receiving yards.
