Christian Watson Receives Vote In Early Award Survey

The Green Bay Packers 2022 season has been a roller coaster that still has a few more twist and turns to go. What started out with a promising 3-1 record, quickly took a dive after a five game losing streak. Somehow, the Packers still find themselves with an outside chance to make the playoffs. This season hasn’t been the most memorable for Green Bay, however, Packers’ rookie receiver Christian Watson has been a bright spot on a sputtering offense.

Christian Watson Receives Offensive Rookie Of The Year Vote

Christian Watson has been on fire during the second half of this season. Watson has recorded seven receiving touchdowns over his past five games. In Week 10 against Dallas, Watson had his breakout performance. He scored three touchdowns on four catches for 107 yards in a 31-28 overtime win.

Recently, Tom Pelissero, an NFL Media Insider, conducted his annual early awards survey which included high-ranking executives from 26 NFL teams, including 15 general managers. All 26 individuals participated on the condition of anonymity for competitive reasons and to provide an honest assessment.

Despite a very competitive Offensive Rookie Of The Year category, Watson was able to claim one first place vote. Although this is supposed to be an ‘honest assessment’ there’s a strong chance the vote may have come from a member of the Packers’ organization.

Nevertheless, Watson’s one vote places him behind Jets’ Garrett Wilson (9 votes), Saints’ Chris Olave (6), Texans’ Dameon Pierce (5), and Seattle’s Kenneth Walker III (3).

Watson’s injury issues and slow start to the season may have held him back from receiving more votes, however, the Packers’ rookie appears to have a very bright future in Green Bay.
