A report from Green Bay Packers practice on Friday casts doubt on the ability of one key wide receiver to play against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Packers’ top two wide receivers, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, are battling hamstring injuries.

    Packers News

The Packers released better news for Doubs on their injury report Thursday. Doubs was limited in practice after being held out Wednesday. Watson was held out on both days.

Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson likely won’t play the Chicago Bears

Watson’s and Doubs’ practice status on Friday will be a crucial indicator of whether or not they can play against the Bears. According to Matt Schneidman with The Athletic, Watson was present at practice but was in sneakers. Doubs is practicing.

Christian Watson is present at practice and has a helmet with him, but his warmup stretches came in the rehab area instead of with the team. He also has sneakers on instead of cleats.

Romeo Doubs is practicing for the second straight day.

Rob Demovsky with ESPN is reporting Watson did not join his Packers teammates outside. However, he did some light stretching and jogging.

Christian Watson (hamstring) was in a jersey, did some light stretching and jogging but did not go outside with the rest of the team.

David Bakhtiari present but not practicing. So looks like he’ll play without any full reps the last 2 weeks.

A cursory look at pundits and beat writers for the Bears and Packers on Twitter seems to suggest Watson will likely be out on Sunday.

Seems like Romeo Doubs will play (albeit, likely not close to 100%) but I’d be shocked to see Christian Watson on Sunday. https://t.co/mX3yuGAuH6

i’m giving him a <10% chance of playing sunday. matt lafleur always talks about the season being a marathon and not a sprint, plus the packers are usually pretty cautious with soft-tissue injuries https://t.co/NOX2oyRDT8

Can't imagine Christian Watson plays without practicing. Hamstring injuries are tricky and it's Week 1. Need him for the long haul. Tough break for such an important part of the Packers offense.

    — Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) September 8, 2023

Can't imagine Christian Watson playing on Sunday.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to get Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon a combined 40+ touches. https://t.co/l98HwUsSHN
