The 2023 NFL offseason has already been crazy and we haven’t even officially begun the offseason. Among the big headlines that have already come around are the Packers wanting to trade Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady retiring, and Sean Payton being traded to the Denver Broncos to be their new head coach. While the Rodgers news is obviously connected to the Packers, something could come out good for Green Bay from the Brady news as well.
With Brady retiring and walking away from the Buccaneers, Tampa Bay could look to move on from some other players. Two names that will be intriguing to monitor will be Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Whether the Packers trade Rodgers or keep him, the franchise needs to make a move for some wide receiver help. A guy like Godwin could be a big-time game-changer for Green Bay.
Could Chris Godwin Be A Potential Fit For The Packers?
Eli Berkovits of Game On Wisconsin suggested that Godwin could be a fit for the Packers. The move would make a ton of sense.
So the Bucs are about to be irrelevant once again…
I'd start making some calls on Chris Godwin. His contract isn't cheap but isn't crazy either.
He's exactly the type of WR the #Packers offense is lacking right now.

Godwin is coming off of yet another solid season for the Buccaneers. He ended the 2022 season with 104 receptions for 1,023 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers show just how good Godwin has been.
At 26 years of age, Godwin would be exactly the kind of piece that the Packers need. If the quarterback is Rodgers or Jordan Love, he would be a perfect security blanket. Godwin also could be the true No. 1 target, with both Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs being great young complimentary pieces.

Brian Gutekunst knows he has a lot of work to do to get the Packers back on the map in the NFC. While there is a lot of work to do, that work can be done with a few key moves. Adding a talent like Godwin would be a big step in the right direction.
Now, the question would become, what would it take to trade for Godwin? The Buccaneers aren’t just going to give him away. Perhaps a second-round pick or a future first-round pick would be worth it. If that’s the price, that Packers should still strongly consider pulling the trigger.
Expect to continue hearing a ton of rumors coming out of Green Bay. The Packers are going to be a very busy team this offseason and it would be very interesting to see them consider pursuing a trade for Godwin.
