On Friday night the Milwaukee Bucks handed the Chicago Bulls their worst loss in playoff history. 111-81 was the final, a 30 point loss… at home. Sometimes losses like these trigger fans, players, and in some cases even reporters. One reporter took to his keyboard after his team was utterly embarrassed on national television.
Steve Greenberg of the Chicago Suntimes picked a fight with Milwaukee after his Bulls couldn’t. Here’s a few “fun” quotes from his article:
Quote One:
“Let’s tell it like it is, Bulls fans. Milwaukee? It looks like Chicago coughed up a lung. During severe-weather alerts, residents are encouraged to seek immediate shelter in the nearest pothole. When somebody there says, “I’m in a really bad place right now,” he isn’t referring to his mental state.“
Quote Two:
If we know one thing about Milwaukee, it’s that there’s essentially nothing anybody needs to know about Milwaukee. The city is so stuck in its ways, Old Milwaukee is still the newest thing about it. And, man, do the people there ever like to yammer on with dull stories and inane small talk. Or as we outsiders call it, “ ’Waukee talkie.”
Quote Three:
“A spoiled brat isn’t what a Bucks fan calls a child with a bad attitude. It’s something he covers with extra sauerkraut and eats anyway. Yeah, I know, that joke was the wurst.“
What was the reporter trying to accomplish?
“Look, I’m trying over here. To do what, exactly? To stoke the flames of a pure, unadulterated, angry basketball rivalry between that city and ours.”
The article later brings up their 1990s run with Michael Jordan and their 2015 playoffs run that eliminated the Milwaukee Bucks. To be honest this is nothing surprising from a Chicago based “reporter” that isn’t handing the these type of domination’s very well. We see similar things from Chicago reporters every time the Packers beat down the Bears.
Giannis’ dominance vs the Bulls has been something Chicago fans SHOULD be angry about:
Giannis’ stats vs Chicago seem pedestrian at first, but taking a little closer look, it’s pretty remarkable.
- Overall record: 19-12
- 22.1 points per game
- 9.5 rebounds per game
- 4.9 assists per game
Not bad numbers whatsoever, however, not the numbers you’d expect from the two time MVP and NBA Champion. However the 2015-16 season Giannis became a full time starter. That year he averaged more than 10 field goal attempts per game for the first time in his career. Since the 2015-16 season Giannis vs the Bulls:
- Overall record: 17-6
- 27.5 points per game
- 11 rebounds per game
- 6 assists per game
However the real dominance started the next year. Since the 2016-17 season Giannis has done this to the Bulls:
- Overall record: 16-3
- 28.4 points per game
- 11.9 rebounds per game
- 5.9 assists per game
Giannis is currently on a TWELVE GAME win streak vs Chicago dating back to the 2018-2019 season. He literally has not lost to Chicago since 12/26/2017 (prior to this playoff series).
Want to bring football into it? Giannis and Rodgers OVERALL vs Chicago:
- Overall record: 42-17
- Total winning percentage: .711
- 2 world championships (Chicago Bears/Bulls have none in that time span)
- 6 total MVPs (Chicago Bears/Bulls have none in that time span)
Giannis and Rodgers combined vs Chicago since 2016:
- Overall record: 26-3
- Winning percentage: .896
Giannis and Rodgers combined vs Chicago since 2018:
- Overall record: 19-1
- Winning percentage: .950
ABSOLUTE DOMINANCE. #GoPackGo x #FearTheDeer
