The Milwaukee Bucks will face off against the Los Angeles Clippers at 2:30 CST on Sunday afternoon. It is the first meeting between the two teams this season. The Bucks (20-13) are 13-4 at home while the Clippers (24-11) are 12-5 on the road. The marquee matchup in this game will be Giannis Antetokounmpo against Kawai Leonard. Giannis is fifth in the NBA in scoring, averaging 28.9 points per game. Leonard ranks ninth in the league in scoring, putting up 26.9 points per contest.
A Battle of Dynamic Duos
The Bucks and Clippers games also pits two of the NBA’s best duos against each other. Giannis and Khris Middleton, the Bucks two top scorers, will look to best Leonard and Paul George. It is very likely that the winner of this game will be the team whose dynamic duo out performs the other.
Rebounding Will Be Key
The Milwaukee Bucks are, statistically, the NBA’s best rebounding team. The team hauls down 48.3 rebounds per game, led by Giannis with a 11.7 per game average. The Clippers, on the other hand, average 44.3 rebounds. However, the Clippers are 16-5 in games in which they out-rebound their opponents. If the Bucks are going to win this game, it will be imperative for them to win the battle of the boards.
Will Jrue Holiday Be Back?
On Saturday, the Bucks announced the Jrue Holiday had passed the NBA’s health and safety protocol and would be back with the team for Sunday’s matchup against the Clippers. The Bucks have been without their prized offseason acquisition for the past 10 games.
If Jrue Holiday does indeed return to the lineup, it is highly unlikely that he will play many minutes. COVID-19 affects everyone differently, but sometimes it takes a person a while to build their endurance back up. In any case, having Holiday back on the court will do wonders to boost the Bucks’ morale.
