The Green Bay Packers had an open roster spot to fill after releasing cornerback Jaire Alexander in a bid to save money in the offseason. Cutting the All-Pro saved Green Bay $17.1 million in salary for the upcoming season.
While Green Bay lost a star player, the front office decided Alexander’s salary was not worth the number of games he missed in the last two seasons, as he played in 14 games since 2023.
The Packers used some of the coin they saved by cutting Alexander to sign a six-foot-three, 304-pound nose tackle who missed much of the 2024 campaign due to injury.

Cameron Young is getting a second chance
The Seattle Seahawks drafted Young in the fourth round of the 2023 draft. The Mississippi Bulldogs standout appeared in 17 games and started one for the Seahawks. He recorded 18 tackles, one tackle for loss, one QB hit, and one passed defensed in his two seasons in Seattle.
Green Bay is giving him the No. 78 jersey.
Young was placed on the physically unable to perform list last July. The Seahawks did not activate him until October 10. He appeared in one game for Seattle in 2024.
Young has a new chance with the Packers, and he’ll have game day experience to give him a leg up during competition in training camp.
