Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant certainly seem to be on a fast path out of Brooklyn via trade. Reports all off-season have been that both are seeking a trade to a different team. The Milwaukee Bucks have been loosely thrown around as a trade potential candidate. Pairing Giannis with another Superstar outside of Holiday and Middleton would be big. However, what would it cost? A recent trade proposal suggested that Milwaukee sends four players and a draft pick for the all-star point guard.
Proposed Bucks Trade for Kyrie Irving:

Milwaukee Bucks Receive:
- Guard Kyrie Irving
Brooklyn Nets Receive:
- Center Brook Lopez
- Guard Grayson Allen
- Guard/Forward Pat Connaughton
- Guard George Hill
- 2029 First Round Draft Pick
The crazy part? The article later goes on to ask this question: Why Would the Bucks do this trade? Their answer: “Frankly, we’re not sure.” I think that certainly hits the nail on the head as this trade proposal goes. Take out Brook Lopez and maybe Pat Connaughton (who just re-signed with Milwaukee), add a draft pick, and maybe consequently the Bucks would consider it.
Brook Lopez is a vital aspect of what Milwaukee wants to do on defense, meanwhile Pat Connaughton is a streaky shooter who had his best season to date in 2021-22. If Milwaukee can get a Superstar to Milwaukee without giving up Giannis, Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, or Pat Connaughton, I think it is worth exploring.
What if Milwaukee did trade Brook Lopez?
No matter who the Bucks would get in return for a trade for Brook (unless it’s the same position), they would almost immediately need to find a replacement. The Indiana Pacers may find themselves in an interesting place with star center Myles Turner. After the Suns matched the Pacers 4-year, $133 million dollar offer the Pacers signed him for, Turner may want out. While the longtime Pacer has seemingly been on the trade rumor mill since day one, the circumstances and the recent Ayton pursuit may have easily blurred his relationship with the franchise. If the Bucks trade Lopez, they consequently need to go get Turner.
