Bucks make a big splash in this NBA Rumor
The Milwaukee Bucks lost pretty handedly to the Miami Heat in their run to the NBA Finals.
In that series both teams faced a big injury to a starter. In the case of Miami, Tyler Herro broke his hand and was lost for the series. For Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo was also injured.
So in this proposed deal it seems to be more, “If you can’t beat em, join them” type move. Plus, it is very likely if the Heat manage to acquire Damian Lillard that Herro would be included in the deal. Of course it is still interesting to see.
Here is the deal from NBAAnalaysis.net
The Miami Heat Receive:
- F/C Bobby Portis
- G/F Pat Connaughton
- G/F Grayson Allen
- 2029 First Round Pick
Bucks Receive:
Tyler Herro
In the playoffs TNT Color Commentator Reggie Miller took some “heat” for comments that losing Herro will be a bigger deal for the Heat than losing Antetokounmpo will be for Milwaukee. And while that was not the case, Herro is still very young and full of potential. Adding him to a Jrue Holiday with Khris Middleton could really give the Bucks some offensive firepower.
For a team with a new coach and a new developing identity, this is the type of move that would make a huge difference.
Also you can not discount the financial aspect of this. It would put the team under that dreaded second apron, helping them have a little more flexibility under the new NBA collective bargaining agreement.

Herro’s History
Herro is a Milwaukee native, having attended Whitnall High School in Greenfield Wisconsin. Herro, at the time, made a controversial move by verbally decommitting from the Wisconsin Badgers to attend the University of Kentucky. Hindsight being 20/20, the move could not have worked out better for him. He recently signed a 4 yr $130 million dollar contract extension. He is expecting his second child; his hoops career has been gang busters, and he is only 23 years old. His recent home purchase was in the news.
The 6’ 5” shooting guard had great stats this year averaging 20/5/4 a game consistently. He can shoot the three as well as anyone in the NBA. He has an incredible work ethic. His hometown connections would make an awesome story.
Throughout the season Herro accounted for 18% of the Heat’s total offense.
Herro is also an above-average free throw shooter. Last season he shot over 93%.
Why wouldn’t the Bucks do this?
It is an awful lot to give up. Portis is a fan favorite and both Allen and Connaughton give the team some good depth at shooting guard.
That 2029 first round pick gets thrown around quite a bit as something the team could use to acquire a veteran player. It might also be in the team’s best interest to hold onto that.
For Milwaukee to do this it would also mean any hope for the Heat to acquire Damian Lillard has fallen through.
