Milwaukee Bucks: In last season’s playoffs, a pair of Indiana Pacers fans have filed a lawsuit against an opposing player and coach. As it turns out, that player is a former Milwaukee guard.
“It Happened With Milwaukee” Former Bucks Guard Facing Massive Lawsuit

According to WTHR 13 News:
The women filed the lawsuit last Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks, former Bucks guard Patrick Beverley and assistant coach Josh Oppenheimer. They claim they were each struck by a basketball thrown into the stands by Beverley on two occasions in the closing moments of the Pacers’ series-clinching win in Game 6 of the first round.
One of the women said Beverley threw the ball directly at her face, breaking her necklace. After another fan gave the ball back to Beverley, the suit claims the player “acted like the ball was thrown mistakenly and said the words, ‘My bad.'” He then threw the ball back in the stands, striking the other woman in the chest.
Beverley had just been taken out of the game when the incident occurred. Criminal charges were considered, but ultimately not filed against Beverley for the incident.
The fans said they “suffered immediate physical, mental and emotional damage” from the incident and continued to experience symptoms and damages after the game.
One of the women said she, her husband and two other fans were escorted from the stands “in a perp walk fashion” to make a statement about the incident in another room. They did not believe Beverley or Oppenheimer were escorted out or reprimanded.
The lawsuit claims the women suffered injuries and damages including:
- Physical pain and suffering
- Emotional and mental distress
- Humiliation, embarrassment and anguish
- Medical expenses
- Lost work hours/wages
- Compensatory and punitive damages

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, comes out of this. Patrick Beverley last played for Hapoel Tel Aviv of the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
