Bucks’ Kyle Kuzma breaks out largely obsolete basketball move during game

Who knew that Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma had a little Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in him? During the third quarter of Thursday’s game at Fiserv Forum against the Boston Celtics, Kuzma scored two of his many buckets in the contest on a rarely seen skyhook.

The shot that had become synonymous with Abdul-Jabbar is no longer a common sight in the NBA, which makes Kuzma’s attempt notable.

Kuzma could have settled for a three-point shot after getting a kick-off pass from Kevin Porter Jr., but decided to go for a closer look at the basket.

With Milwaukee guard Gary Trent Jr. on the corner, Boston guard Derrick White couldn’t quite fully commit to challenging Kuzma, who put the ball on the floor and attacked the paint, where he was met by Celtics big man Neemias Queta.

But a quick spin move by Kuzma gave him enough separation before unleashing the most unblockable shot in basketball.

Kuzma leads Bucks to win against Celtics

It was hardly the only good thing that Kuzma did against the Celtics, as he led Milwaukee to a 116-101 home win. The 30-year-old Kuzma, who was traded by the Washington Wizards to Milwaukee in February, finished with a game-high 31 points on 13-for-17 shooting from the field to go with six rebounds and a block.

Kuzma has been playing well of late, having averaged 20.0 points while shooting 61.0 percent from the field in the last three Milwaukee games. On the season, he is putting up 13.5 with a 51.4 FG%.

Milwaukee’s win snapped a two-game losing streak and gave the team its 11th victory in the 2025-26 NBA regular season.

The 11-15 Bucks will next hit the road looking to win back-to-back games for the first time since late October, as they face the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
