In sports, upgrades are necessary for teams to progress. The Milwaukee Bucks have been linked to multiple players such as Jae Crowder, in an effort to boost the team and solidify their playoff run. The Bucks currently hold possession of first place in the Central Division, with Cleveland hot on the trail.
Bucks adding another weapon could propel the team forward
Thus far this season, Immanuel Quickley averages 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 27 minutes per game. The 23-year old guard from Kentucky is a crafty scorer and he can make plays happen as well. Quickley is shooting 41.7% from the floor and 33.3% from three point land. Quickley could provide a wonderful offensive boost off of the bench for the Bucks, the same way he has for the Knicks this season.
While his offensive ability is what most talk about, Quickley is also a capable defender. He currently has 39 steals on the season in 41 games, which puts him on track to smash his previous career-high of 54 steals in a season. Quickley isn’t a perimeter defender or a lock-down defender but he sticks to his assignments like glue. What will come in handy the most for Quickley is his speed with the ball in his hands. He can space the floor and help move the ball towards the open man.
Quickley is scheduled to make $4.2 million this season and is under contract until 2024. The young guard would not be a short term rental for the Bucks, but also a player who can work his way into the lineup. The need for explosiveness and spacing when Khris Middleton is not on the court could cause the Bucks to trade for Quickley.
How would Quickley fit in the Bucks rotation?
Recently, the guard has picked up a larger role with the Knicks due to injuries. However, he is typically the sixth man for their team and provides a spark off the bench. The energy he can provide can be closely compared to Grayson Allen’s performance in the playoffs in 2022. Allen provided solid defense, but more importantly he hit big shots and ignited the offense at times with key plays. The small aspects of the game add up over time, which is why Quickley represents a valuable asset the Bucks are considering.
