The Milwaukee Bucks will take on the Dallas Mavericks on the road this Friday night at 9:00 PM CST. This will be the second and final meeting between the two teams in the regular season this year. The Bucks previously defeated the Mavericks 124-115 in Milwaukee on November 27. Of course, this matchup is notable for the Bucks as they will be facing a team coached by their former head coach Jason Kidd. Throughout his career, Giannis Antetokounmpo has put up very solid numbers against the Dallas Mavericks. Here, I present the top five.
5. November 27, 2022: Bucks 124, Mavericks 115
As mentioned earlier, this game took place earlier this season. Giannis led the way, scoring 30 points in just 29 minutes. He also added 11 rebounds, four assists, and a steal. For all the flack Giannis received early in the season because of his free throw shooting, he was quite impressive in this game. He was 8-10 from the free throw line while Mavericks superstar Luca Doncic was 4-9.
This game also featured a master-class shooting night from Grayson Allen, who scored 25 points on 8-10 shooting (7-8 from three).
4. August 8, 2020: Bucks 132, Mavericks 136
A tough loss for the Milwaukee Bucks in the bubble in Orlando that dropped them to 40 games over.500 for the season. Giannis scored 34 points on 13-26 shooting, but was 1-7 from three and just 7-14 from the free throw line. He also grabbed 13 rebounds, had an assist, and blocked five shots.
Brook Lopez matched Giannis’ scoring with 34 of his own on 12-27 shooting (6-12 from three). He added seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Unfortunately, Luca’s 34-point, 14-rebound, and 19-assist triple-double was just too much to overcome.
3. January 21, 2019: Bucks 116, Mavericks 106
Giannis and the Bucks were able to overcome another Luca Doncic triple-double (18-11-10) behind some great individual and team effort. The Greek Freak had 31 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists on 10-20 shooting (1-2 from three) and was 10-12 from the line.
Brook Lopez added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also had five blocked shots.
2. April 2, 2017: Bucks 105, Mavericks 109
Now, you know we’re throwing it back here because Wesley Matthews was in the starting lineup… for the Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki had 17 points on 7-11 shooting. Giannis had a near triple-double, putting up 31 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists in the losing effort. He also had four steals and two blocks. Unfortunately, no other Bucks player had more than 14 points.
1. December 16, 2019: Bucks 116, Mavericks 120
Man, the Dallas Mavericks just had the Bucks’ number in the 2019-20 season (see game number four)! However, this game was probably one of the most dominant scoring games of Giannis’ career, even in a losing effort. He put up 48 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, a block, and a steal. Unfortunately, no other Bucks starter reached double-figures, though three players (Kyle Korver, George Hill, and Ersan Illyasova) scored in double figures off the bench.
