Giannis Antetokounmpo is will make his return to the court for the Milwaukee Bucks after missing their last game, a 106-103 win over the Miami Heat, due to a knee injury. Damian Lillard led the team with 37 points and 12 assists in the victory, his third consecutive game with 10+ assists.
Now 9-9 on the season, the Bucks over came a 2-8 start (that included a six-game losing streak) to win seven of their last eight games and five in a row. Now they will have their two-time NBA MVP back on the court to face a Washington Wizards team he has been very successful against in the past.
5. December 23, 2016: Bucks 123, Wizards 96
The year that Giannis Antetokounmpo won the NBA’s Most Improved Player of the Year Award saw him have many special performances. One of those was in this game. Giannis scored 39 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out six assists. He was 12-19 from the floor (0-1 from three) and 15-17 from the free throw line.
Jabari Parker had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Bucks as well. Greg Monroe had a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) off of the bench.
4. February 6, 2019: Bucks 148, Wizards 129
In this contest, Giannis Antetokounmpo had 43 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals as the Bucks steamrolled the Wizards. Giannis and the Bucks used a 50-point first quarter to put the game out of reach early. The eventual MVP shot 17-21 from the floor (3-3 from three), but was just 6-11 from the free throw line.
Now, if a 43-point game is just number four on this list, you know the next three are going to be out of this world.
3. March 13, 2021: Bucks 125, Wizards 119
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 33 points led all Bucks scorers, seven of whom got to double-figures. However, what stood Giannis apart from every was that in addition to those 33 points, he had 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Not only that, but he added a steal and a block on defense.
2. March 15, 2021: Bucks 133, Wizards 122
Two days after recording a triple-double against the Wizards, Giannis Antetokounmpo did it again! This time he put up 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. He was an efficient 12-19 from the floor (1-2 from three) and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. Defensively, Giannis had three steals and a block.
1. February 1, 2022: Bucks 112, Wizards 98
Since Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play on Sunday night, this is the last game in which he faced the Wizards. He put up yet another triple-double with 33 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists. He also added two blocks. Giannis was efficient as ever from the floor, shooting 14-21 overall and was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line.
