Just when you thought you had heard everything about the rumors involving Milwaukee Bucks superstar power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo regarding his potential to get moved before the 2026 NBA trade deadline, insider Marc Stein shared another intriguing tidbit about “The Greek Freak’s” situation.

According to Stein, Antetokounmpo appears to be hesitant in the idea of getting traded to the Golden State Warriors, as he’s worried about becoming a Robin instead of a Batman — a role that he’s assumed for many many years now with the Bucks.

    Via Polymarket Hoops:

Giannis reportedly wants his own team and isn’t as ‘eager’ as he once used to be on the possibility of joining Golden State, per @TheSteinLine.

“League sources say that Golden State is aware of recent rumblings that Giannis Antetokounmpo can’t be assumed to be as eager as he was once perceived to be to relocate to Stephen Curry’s town and team.”

New angle about Bucks-Warriors possible trade emerges

The Warriors are still undeniably Curry’s team. Even when Jimmy Butler was acquired by Golden State in 2025, there was never a question about who runs the squad, with Butler willingly playing the role of a second-fiddle to the greatest shooter ever in the history of basketball.

If becoming reduced to a Robin is what worries Antetokounmpo about the idea of joining the Warriors, then that is a detriment to the chances of Golden State to pull off a stunning trade to acquire him.

Then again, Curry is already in the latter stages of his career, and someone will have to inherit the mantle in the Bay Area. Can that be Antetokounmpo?
