Gary Trent Jr. is among the multiple Milwaukee Bucks role players who got ridiculed by fans for underperforming during their seven straight losses earlier in the season.
Superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard produce the numbers expected of them, even surpassing standards but when it comes to role players and reserves, there’s almost nothing to the point that they were subjected to trade rumors with under seven games played.
Things have changed. The Bucks are now 11-9 and are through to the Final 8 of NBA Emirates Cup. The bench is getting the props for this turn around, too.
What changed? Trent Jr, who took a pay cut in hopes of winning a title, can only preach about patience.
Reporter: The bench in itself is so productive tonight, including you, of course, 16 off the bench. Can you talk to me just about what’s been helping you guys up to this point of the season to have that success?
GTJ: Winning is gonna come, where it’s gonna come at. You know, offense has come up and on the defensive end we’re holding in. Lock it in and turn that into points. And when we do that, everybody’s flowing, everybody feel like they’re involved. Everybody know their place.
Aside from Trent Jr., Bobby Portis also had himself a night as he scored 14 points, four out of seven from the three.
AJ Green, meanwhile, contributed 11 points.
