Just when it looked like the Milwaukee Bucks got their mojo back with a 116-101 win at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee over the Boston Celtics last Thursday, the Giannis Antetokounmpo-Bucks suffered an embarrassing blowout defeat at the hands of one of the worst teams in the NBA in the 2025-26 season.

On Sunday, Milwaukee fell prey to the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Even more surprising was the fact that the Bucks got blown out by 45 points. The Bucks’ 127-82 loss to Brooklyn matched the Nets franchise’s largest margin in a victory.

Milwaukee didn’t seem to have it from the get-go, as the Nets established a 12-point lead by the end of the first half. Brooklyn did not let up from start to finish, even outscoring the road team in the final period, 28-11.

Milwaukee head coach Doc Rivers put the blame for the loss on himself.

“I thought that was awful,” Rivers said after the game, per Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

“Awful all around. On me because I clearly didn’t get them ready. And on us. Give Brooklyn credit because I thought they played hard as heck. They moved the ball. They played right. We didn’t.”

Even without Antetokounmpo, it was unacceptable for Milwaukee to get blown out in a game by nearly 50 points. Milwaukee is now 11-16 and has lost three of its last four outings.

All the Bucks could do for now is forget everything that happened in that contest and focus on bouncing back in the next outing. Milwaukee is set to host the Toronto Raptors this coming Thursday.
