The Milwaukee Bucks are currently looking like a serious contender in the Eastern Conference once again. While a lot of that has to do with the presence of Giannis Antetokounmpo, the franchise has done an amazing job of putting talented role players around him. One of those talented role players is veteran forward Bobby Portis.
Unfortunately for the Bucks, Portis suffered a couple of injuries recently that will keep him out of action for awhile. Those two injuries were a sprained MCL and an ankle sprain.
According to a report from the Bucks via Eric Nehm, Portis will miss at least two weeks with these injuries.

Breaking Down The Bucks’ Immediate Future
Thankfully, the timing of this injury is not as bad as it could have been. Milwaukee and the rest of the NBA are about to head into the All-Star break with a couple of weeks before it. That should leave Portis back to full health for the stretch run of the regular season and into the playoffs.
So far this season, Portis has played in 47 games and started in 14 of those appearances. He has averaged 14.4 points per game to go along with 10.1 rebounds. Portis has shot 49.9 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 34.1 percent of his three-point attempts.

Portis has become such an integral piece of the Bucks’ offense over the last couple of years. He is capable of creating his own shot or knocking down open looks created by others. Clearly, he is also a key rebounder for the team.
Another thing to keep a close eye on is that the NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching. The Bucks could very well make a move to help beef up their depth in the near future. One name that has been connected to Milwaukee quite often has been Phoenix Suns veteran forward Jae Crowder.
Hopefully, Portis will be able to recover quickly and fully and there will be no setbacks. The Bucks rely heavily on him and thankfully this injury was not worse than it has ended up being.
