Milwaukee’s Brook Lopez is one of three players this season with 50 blocked shots and 50 three-pointers made. The others: Kristaps Porzingis and Kevin Durant.
Three players this year with 50 blocks/50 three-pointers
Lopez has 98 blocks and 70 three-pointers. Porzingis has 56 blocks and 63 three-pointers; Durant has 55 blocks and 66 three-pointers.
Lopez is on the verge of having a 100 blocks/100 three-pointers season for the fourth time in his career. It would be his fourth career 100/100 season in those stats which would tie him for the NBA record. Rasheed Wallace had four 100 blocks/100 three-pointer seasons in his 16-year career.
Brook Lopez ready to take a share of this NBA record
Brook is one of 17 players all-time to have a 100 blocks/100 three-pointers seasons. Here are those 17 players:
4-Rasheed Wallace
3-Brook Lopez, Karl Anthony-Towns
2-Kristaps Porzingis, Kevin Durant
1-Jaren Jackson, Jr., Mo Bamba, Jerami Grant, Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka, Draymond Green, Andrea Bargani, Shawn Marion, Donyell Marshall, Raef LaFrentz, Dirk Nowitzki, Robert Horry
Lopez had his first 100/100 season with these stats in 2016-17 as a member of the Brooklyn Nets. He had 124 blocks and 134 threes that season. In 2018-19, Brook had 179 blocks and 187 threes as a member of the Bucks, and then followed that season with a 163 blocks/102 three-pointers season, also in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Bucks with 70 blocks/70 three-pointers in a season
Only three players have had 70 or more blocks and 70 or more three-pointers for the Bucks in the same season. Lopez has now done it four times. The others are Giannis Antetokounmpo last season (91 blocks, 71 three-pointers) and Brad Lohaus in 1992-93 (74 blocks, 85 three-pointers).
Brook has blocked 17 shots in the last five games, an average of 3.4 blocks/game. He could go over the 100 blocks this season in his next game. He has, however, been in a little bit of a slump on shooting threes. In his last five games he has made only three-of-15 three-point attempts.
